Abounding Love and Marital Bliss
Love Greetings in the Matchless Name of our Lord Jesus Christ by whom we have received the mandate to provide information, instructions, inspiration and insight to couples around the world to help them develop a fun filled, fruitful and fulfilling marriage.
It is for this reason that we organize meetings like Matters of Heart; a question and answer Program focused on providing Biblical insight and spiritual counsel to people of all ages, sexes or social status on marital issues and relationships. We provide enlightening truth, practical tips and helpful tools that upgrade the quality of marriages and the health of Christian relationships.
Furthermore, in this Month of February, our Month “Abounding Love and Marital Bliss” we seek to inspire married couples to embrace the higher calling of genuine, selfless and self sacrificing love for one another.
Galatians 5:13-15 NKJV
For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
In a healthy marriage, both couple seek to serve one another. Each one seeks the good and the wellbeing of the other. Healthy marriages are built on selfless, self sacrificing and self giving love. Anything built on selfishness will destroy itself because Love builds while selfishness destroys. See Galatians 5:13-15; James 3:16; John 13:34-35.
1 Peter 4:8 NKJV
And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”
If we focus on meeting the needs of one another instead of using and exploiting one another for personal gain and selfish aggrandizement we will find the path to a richer and more fulfilling marriage. I challenge every married couple to embrace the challenge of Love in this season and choose to do acts of love for their spouses more than what they deserve or expect. If both of you practice this towards one another, you will experience heaven on earth.
Titus 2:4-5 KJV
that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
Ephesians 5:25-29 KJV
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.
I challenge husbands and wives to outdo one another in love for the next forty days. No bad or negative words spoken to your spouse. Speak positive about them for the entire period. Every prayer about them should be a prayer of thanksgiving about the good things in their lives. Thank God that they are alive. Thank God for every good you can see in them. Ask God for the grace to do this and pray according to Philippians 1:9-11 and 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13. Lavish each other with love and let us know who wins at the end of the forty day period. Who will be more loving? You or your spouse? Who will be more forgiving? You or your spouse? Who will be more positive? You or your spouse? Let’s do this.
May the Lord bless your marriage with abundant grace and favors. May your love for each other abound more and more until you become emblems of selfless love to each other, your children, the Body of Christ and the world around you. Selah
