April Letter 8: Amazed by Grace 1

Dearly Beloved,

Greetings of Grace, Mercy and Peace be unto you in the Matchless Name of our Lord Jesus Christ by whom we have gained access to the blessings and bounties of heaven.

Christianity is the most popular religion in the world but the essence of its message has not been fully understood. This has limited the impact of Christianity in the earth. It has been classified as just one of the alternative ways to reach God. But it is totally different in essence and character from all other religions in the world.

In religion, the adherents are servants, but in Christianity we are called sons of God and joint heirs with Christ. In religion, the God they worship is very detached and distant from them, but in Christianity, our God is our Father, our Comforter and friend. In other religions there is no intimacy with deity, but in Christianity we are one with God. In fact, we are one spirit with Him. We are of His flesh and of His bones. We are His Body, His temple and His house. See 1 Corinthians 6:17; Ephesians 5:30; Ephesians 2:19-22; Colossians 1:23-24; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20

Christianity, therefore, is not a mere religion. When people hear the words like Christianity is not a religion, they are shocked and taken aback. This is because they don’t know what a religion is. Religion is man reaching out to God. Religion is man trying to reach God based on his own assumptions and presumptions of who God is and what He wants. See Genesis 4:1-15; 1 Chronicles 15:1-2; 15:12-29

Religion is man seeking to develop a relationship with God based on his own works and efforts. This is the basis of all religions of the world. It is works, efforts, works, ceremonies, activities and more works but not so with Christianity. See Galatians 3:10; James 2:8-14

In religion sins are remembered year after year. In religion, you have to pay for your own sins. Religious people are never free from fear. They are never happy. They have no joy or happiness because they are worn down by works trying to earn God’s love and His favor. See Hebrews 10:1-3; Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

But Christianity is different. In the Bible we see a loving God who selflessly gave up His one and only Son for our redemption. He did not send His Son to condemn the world but that the world through His Son might be saved. We serving a Loving and Caring God who is genuinely concerned for His creation. See 1 John 4:7-11; John 3:16-17; Matthew 7:7-11

Christianity is God reaching out to man through His Son Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. This is based on the finished works of Christ on the cross. Man cannot reach God through his dead works. Connection with God the Father is only possible through Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. See Ephesians 2:11-22; Hebrews 10:19-22; John 14:6; Hebrews 9:11-28; 1 Timothy 2:4-6; Hebrews 6:1-3.

Christ offered Himself to put away our sins. In other religions you pay for your sins. But Christ Jesus has paid for our sins through His spotless, precious Blood. It is His Blood that makes it possible for us to approach God the. Father without fear or trepidation. See Hebrews 2:5-18; 4:14-16; Ephesians 2:1-10

Christ bore our sins in His own Body. He bore our shame, our blame, our reproach and our punishment. He borne the full brunt of all our sins. He is our Ransom. Because of Him we have been delivered from the consequences of the fall and the penalty of our own wrongdoing. Praise God! See Job 33:23-30; Isaiah 53:3-12; Romans 5:12-21

God’s Love is ever so amazing when you think of the fact that He personally took responsibility for our sins without been asked. Think about it. Redemption was God’s idea not yours. You don’t have to beg God to save you. You don’t have to beg God to heal you. He took up the initiative as an act of Love to die for the ungodly, to take on Himself our infirmities, our pains, our diseases and our sicknesses. He became poor so that we might be rich. It is all His idea. See Romans 5:6-11; 2 Corinthians 5:14-21; 1 Peter 2:24

God seeks your good. God wants to do you good. God wants to answer your prayers. God wants to give you life’s best because of His overwhelming Love for you that compelled Him to sacrifice His best for you. Think about it. We serve a God who looks after His children and desires intimacy with them and was willing to do whatever it takes to save them while they were His enemies and satisfy them with His Loving kindness. This is amazing Grace!!!
