Church on a Mission
Greetings in the Matchless Name of our Lord Jesus Christ by whom we have received the mandate to “Preach the Full Message of this New Life to the peoples of this world.”
In this Month of June, we are challenging believers to embrace the sacred call to enlist in the rescue mission of bringing men out of darkness into the kingdom of God. We are all called to be ambassadors for Christ by stepping out to reach others with the Saving Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:20-21 ESVand thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written,“Those who have never been told of him will see,and those who have never heard will understand.”John 17:18 MSGIn the same way that you gave me a mission in the world,I give them a mission in the world.
John 20:21 Wuest Expanded New TestamentThen Jesus said to them again, Peace be to you. Even as the Father has sent me on a mission for which I still am responsible, I also am sending you.
We believe that Christ continues His Mission and His Ministry through is today as we can see above. We are called to extend the influence of Christ everywhere we go; planting and pioneering new churches.
Expedition means the following:
- A sending or a setting forth
- A journey or excursion undertaken for a specific purpose
The Church of Jesus Christ is a sending church. That is, the Church of Jesus Christ is a Missionary organization. Everyone that becomes a part of the Church is enlisting to be a part of God’s dream to fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of God.
Ephesians 2:10 MSGNo, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.
John 14:12 MSGThe person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it.
As soon as we all got saved we were all conscripted into the army of God. Whether God’s work in the earth advances or not is up to us. We all have a part to play. We all have a role to fill.
Ephesians 4:16 NLTHe makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.
So long as we are all actively engaged in executing our God given assignments, God’s work in the earth will be expanding, spreading and enlarging consistently. But for the most part, the Body of Christ has left the work of Church planting, Evangelism and outreaches to only the full time paid staff of the Church. If the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is going to experience rapid growth and unstoppable expansion, every believer must realize that they have an active, non negotiable part to play in the extension of the impact and the influence of kingdom of God in the earth.
Acts 8:4 MSGForced to leave home base, the Christians all became missionaries. Wherever they were scattered, they preached the Message about Jesus.
Every Christian in the early Church knew that they were saddled to carry the Gospel to other places just like the Apostles. Philip went down to Samaria and preached the Gospel in the demonstration of the Spirit and of Power. Philip was not an Apostle or a Pastor when he did this. He was only a Deacon.
Acts 11:19-21 NLTMeanwhile, the believers who had been scattered during the persecution after Stephen’s death traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch of Syria. They preached the word of God, but only to Jews. However, some of the believers who went to Antioch from Cyprus and Cyrene began preaching to the Gentiles about the Lord Jesus. The power of the Lord was with them, and a large number of these Gentiles believed and turned to the Lord.
Every Christian is an ambassador sent on a Mission to win souls and demonstrate the Power of God. Everything that Jesus did you can do because He is in you.
We are the Body of Christ. Christ works through us today. You are His mouthpiece to your world. You are His hands and feet. Let Christ live through you. Step out in faith and watch Him demonstrate His Power through you.
Romans 15:18 NLTYet I dare not boast about anything except what Christ has done through me, bringing the Gentiles to God by my message and by the way I worked among them.
Romans 15:18-19 NKJVFor I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient— in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
The results of Paul’s ministry were the results of Christ working through Him. It is God that does the work through us. See Philippians 2:13; Mark 16:20; John 3:2; Acts 2:22; 14:3; 15:12; 19:11; 21:19; 2 Corinthians 3:5; Galatians 2:8.
We are simply instruments in His hands. God is the doer. We are His agents. God wants to use you to reach those in your sphere of influence. It’s time to let God loose in you and through you to bless the world around you. Become God’s mouthpiece to a dying world and his hands to bring someone to Church. Selah
