Light My Candle.
“For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.” Psalm 18:28 (NKJV)
Our opening scripture says that the Lord will light my candle. Remember that the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord according to Proverbs 20:27. If He is going to light my candle, it means my candle was in darkness.
The New King James Version puts our opening scripture this way, “For You will light my lamp …” This means that when a man or woman is not born again, their lamp is off.
This is why when a man who drinks, womanizes and physically abuses his wife gets born again, he is completely transformed. God lights his lamp and enlightens his darkness.
As a result, he realizes that he had been wrong in his behavior to his wife and the same man goes to his wife and apologizes for his wrong behavior when he was not born again. He was acting that way because he was in darkness.
The man in Christ is a new creature according to 2 Corinthians 5:17. His old moral and spiritual condition is past away.
1 Corinthians 6:11 says, “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I am washed, I am sanctified, I am justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of God.
