Recognize Your Calling 3

“Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.”
John 4:34 (NLT)

Do you know that for you to thrive in your vocation, it has to be in line with God’s purpose for your life? This is because your vocation ought to be your calling. There are many people who do not know this and as a result choose the wrong vocation. That is why they hate their jobs and are not effective in what they do. It is because they are outside of God’s call for their lives so they lack the ability and equipment to function effectively.

Every job has its own pressure. If you cannot stand the pressure of your job that could be a signal that you are in the wrong vocation. For instance, there is pressure in ministry, so if you were not called into ministry you will be ineffective because you lack the potential to do ministry. There are people who have committed suicide for being pastors. It was because they lacked the equipment needed to withstand the pressure in ministry.

When you realize that you were called to do what you are doing, it unlocks potential inside of you because your mentality is now different. Realizing that you are called to do what you do will also unlock self-motivation and self-sacrifice in you. Now you understand the words of Jesus in our opening scripture when He said, “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.” This is because doing what you know you are called to do will bring you a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.
