Rhema.

Rhema.

“And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:3-4

Jesus said in our opening scripture that man shall not live by bread alone. In other words, Jesus is letting us know that man is beyond the physical. Bread is for physical sustenance. The Word of God is for our spiritual sustenance. So Jesus said, “… but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” ‘Word’ in the verse above is referring to ‘rhema’.

There are two words for Word in the New Testament. The first one is Logos. We see this in John 1:1 where the Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The ‘word’ in this verse is logos.

Logos refers to the whole body of divine revelation or the written Word of God. Logos refers to everything God has said all through history.

Rhema is what is found in Matthew 4:4 where Jesus said, “… Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” A rhema word refers to a specific word, to a specific person at a specific time for a specific purpose. When you get a rhema word, it decides your season.

Therefore in this month’s devotional get ready to learn about the power of the Word of God.
