The Power of God’s Word

The Power of God’s Word
1 John 2:14 NKJV
I have written to you, fathers,
Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men,
Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you,
And you have overcome the wicked one.
The knowledge of the Word is vital to the quality of life you live and the kind of outcomes you experience.
For instance, according to Isaiah 5:13 which says, “My people are gone into captivity because they have no knowledge….” It becomes obvious that ignorance of the Word has deadly consequences. God told the Children of Israel, saying, “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge….” Your ignorance of God’s Word has serious consequences. See Hosea 4:6.
It is written, “They know not, neither will they understand, they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.” See Psalm 82:5. All chaos is rooted in ignorance. Ignorance is darkness while knowledge is light. Satan is the prince of darkness. He only rules where there is darkness. Light dethrones him. As you gain more light and knowledge from the Word the more victorious you will be.
Paul the Apostle said, “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” See 2 Corinthians 2:11. Satan’s greatest weapon against any individual is ignorance, deception and misinformation. See 2 Corinthians 11:3; Genesis 3:1-7.
It’s time to get into the Word like never before. It’s time to read it objectively, intentionally and consistently. As you do many good things await you. Time spent in the Word has many rewarding benefits.
The Word of God has Cleansing Power
The Power of God’s Word at work in you cannot be overestimated. God’s Word has transformative power as revealed in the Words of our Lord Jesus Christ in John 15:3, He said, “Now You are clean through the Word which I have spoken unto you.” That means God’s Word has cleansing power.
The more you expose yourself to the Word, the cleaner your mind and your heart. The Word of God is a spiritual purgative as evident in the Words of David the Psalmist, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?
by taking heed thereto according to thy word….Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalm 119:9,11 KJV) Time spent in the Word is your greatest deterrent against any sin and bad habits. Fill your heart and mind with it and it will cleanse you from within. The Word in you breaks the power and the influence of sin in your life.
The Word of God Has Healing Power
Psalms 107:20 NKJV
He sent his word, and healed them,
and delivered them from their destructions.
The Word of God has Healing Power. The Healing Power of God is carried in His Word. The more time you spend in the Word of God, the healthier you will be.
The Word received into you has medicinal effect as reported by King Solomon, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes;
keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them,
and health to all their flesh.” See Proverbs 4:20-22.
Spending time in the Word does you a lot of good. It renews your mind and fills your heart and mind with the insights, principles and strategies that will facilitate your success in life, relationships and in all realms of your existence.
The Word of God brings blessings
Your relationship and fellowship with the Word of God is a major decider of the outcomes of your life. When do what we are taught and act on what we believe we are blessed in our doing.
Luke 11:28 KJV
But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
James 1:25 KJV
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Let us not be hearers only but doers of the Word. It is the doer that is blessed not hearers. By thinking, speaking and doing the Word we make our ways prosperous and have good success. See Joshua 1:8. As we let the Word dominate our thinking, it gives us a great sense of peace. See Isaiah 26:3.
The Word also builds faith into us as recorded in Romans 10:17. The more we feed on it, the more our faith grows. Faith flourishes when we stay on the Word. Faith flounders when we are starved of the Word. Feeding your heart and mind on rich Biblical content helps you grow spiritually. See 1 Peter 2:2. It is an absolute necessity for the believer to stay on the Word to receive the many riches made available to us through Christ. See Acts 20:32. Get into the Word and experience for yourself the blessings in the Word. It’s up to you. Don’t procrastinate; Please start now. Selah
