The Power and the Effect of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is the outward expression of heartfelt appreciation to God the Father for what He has done, what He is doing and what you expect Him to do for you. See Ephesians 5:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:18; Colossians 3:17; Philippians 4:6-7; Colossians 4:2; 1 Corinthians 15:57; 2 Corinthians 2:14
Thanksgiving can be verbal expression of gratitude to God for His manifested goodness. See Psalm 105:1-2; 106:1-2; Psalm 107:21; 26:7; 92:1; 1 Chronicles 29:13; Isaiah 51:3
Power is defined as the following:

  1. The ability to produce an effect
  2. The capacity or ability to do something
  3. The ability to determine or decide outcomes
  4. The capability or capacity to influence the course of events

  1. Thanksgiving facilitates answers your prayers. Praise and thanksgiving facilitates speedy answers to prayers. See Acts 16:25-26; Philippians 4:6-7; 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18; Colossians 2:2-3; Daniel 6:10; Jonah 2:1-10(9)
  2. Thanksgiving is the yeast of multiplication. Thanksgiving is a multiplier. It always leads to more. See Jeremiah 30:19; Matthew 14:15-21; John 6:4-13; Colossians 2:7
  3. Thanksgiving opens the door to manifestations of God’s glory and power. The atmosphere of gratitude and thanksgiving is the atmosphere of the miraculous. See John 11:40-45; 2 Chronicles 5:13-14
  4. Thanksgiving perpetuates or sustains divine blessings. To enjoy Divine Blessings you must be a grateful person. See Genesis 8:20-21; 9:12-17; Deuteronomy 28:47-49; Psalm 106:21-27; Psalm 107:21-22
  5. Habitual thanksgiving can protect you from demon influence. Ingratitude opens you up to demonic oppression. When we complain, we murmur against God. This is an act of verbal rebellion. See Numbers 21:4-9; Romans 2:18-24
  6. Thanksgiving sustains progress. As you continue to thank God, God increases you . Thanksgiving leads to perpetual increase. See 2 Samuel 6:12-15; Jeremiah 30:19-21
  7. Thanksgiving prolongs your days. Gratitude prolongs your days. Complaining and murmuring can shorten your days. Find something to be grateful for. See Isaiah 38:18; Numbers 21:4-7; Deuteronomy 28:47-49; 2 Chronicles 32:24-26
