The Power of Thanksgiving 2

1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV
in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

One of the single most powerful keys to a life of blessing, success and fulfillment is thanksgiving. Gratitude is the fountain of life’s greatest blessings and God’s greatest miracles.

Those who are the most successful both in the religious and secular worlds are people who are committed to habitual gratitude and thanksgiving. Some of them write down the things that they are grateful for everyday in a notebook or a journal. Try it. It is a fulfilling and empowering experience. Do it now. What we act on we empower. Take out a piece of paper or a notebook and write down the good things in your life or some things you are grateful for and you will notice a change in your mental attitude and your emotions.

When we maintain the attitude of thanksgiving and demonstrate habitual gratitude we enjoy a better state of mind and healthy and balanced emotions. But those who don’t will be depressed and melancholy most of the time. This is because of habitual negativity and complaining. Depression comes when we simply focus on the negatives in life, in our own lives or our circumstances.

The fact is that no matter how bad or difficult your life is. Sincerely speaking, somebody is having it worse. This reminds me of the man that was complaining to God that He had no shoes until he saw a man that had no legs rejoicing. Then he realized that he had something to be grateful for. We all have something to be grateful for.

So long as we keep on complaining and discussing the negatives in our lives and becoming engrossed with them mentally we cannot be happy but if we start dreaming of a better life and planning towards it while been grateful for every little positive thing, our emotions will shift from sadness to joy. The focus of your mind becomes the feelings of your emotions. Yes, your mental preoccupation becomes the expression of your emotions.

It is time to take out some time to count your blessings and name them one by one. We all have something to be grateful for. For instance, you are alive. Thank God for that. If you can see, thank God for that. If you can walk, thank God for that. Look around and find things you can be grateful for. Write them down. List them before the Lord and watch Him amplify His goodness towards you. God the Father will only increase what you are grateful for. Selah
