The Righteousness of God
. “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”
Romans 10:1-4 (NKJV)
Notice that there are two forms of righteousness mentioned in our opening scripture. There is the righteousness of God and their own righteousness.
You can have your own parameters for judging who is righteous and who is not, that is your own righteousness. But God says you are righteous when you believe in Jesus Christ. “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” So the man who believes in Jesus Christ in the sight of God is righteous.
Someone may argue that the Bible says “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” Romans 3:10. Yes, none is righteous in himself but the man who believes in Jesus Christ is righteous in the sight of God.
Romans 3:21-22 says, “But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:”
Therefore if you believe in Jesus Christ you are righteous.
In the Name of Jesus and by my faith in the finished works of Christ I declare that I am righteous and I have peace with God through my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
