What Is Christianity?

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
John 1:12-13

Happy New Year! In this month’s devotional we are going to focus our study on the life of God.

Christianity is not a religion. There is a religion in Christianity but it is not a religion.

What is Christianity? Christianity is man in a vital relationship with God. Christianity is Christ at work in a man.

Christianity is Christ reproduced in a man as seen in Galatians 4:19, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,”

The essence of Christianity was that God wanted to reproduce His Son in us. The Bible says in Romans 8:29 (NLT), “For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son …” This reveals that the goal of the Christian life is Christ reproduced in you.

The Holy Spirit revealed to me that Christianity is the character, the charisma and the compassion of Christ reproduced in you.

When we say that Christianity is the character; we are referring to the fruits of the spirit, the charisma refers to the gifts of the spirit and the compassion refers to the love of God reproduced in you.

Therefore as a Christian, the fruits of the spirit, the gifts of the spirit and the love of God should be reproduced in you.

Please read Galatians 4:19 and pray that Christ will be formed in you.

Romans 5:5 (KJV)

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 8:29 (MSG)

God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (KJV)

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
