What Is Faith? 1
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:16-17.
There is no other way to live if you are a Christian than to live by faith. This is why in this month’s devotional, we will be learning on the subject of faith. What is faith? Faith is a confident expectation based on God’s Word. The word ‘faith’ is from the Greek word ‘pistis’ which means conviction, confidence, firm persuasion, etc.
How does faith come? Romans 10:17 says, *“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Therefore, if faith which is conviction and confidence comes by hearing,Thank and hearing by the Word of God, then it means faith is Word-based confidence. Hence, we can say that faith is a confident attitude based on the Word of God.
How do you know you have faith? You know you have faith when your confidence is based on the Word of God. Faith is not self-confidence, it is God-confidence. It is confidence in God and His Word.
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I am the head and not the tail. I am above and not beneath. In whatever I do, I will always be above my peers. The blessing of God is lifting me higher and higher. I am going from glory to glory, from grace to grace, from faith to faith, from wealth to wealth, in the Name of Jesus.
