What Is Your Name? 1

“And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.” Genesis 17:15-16

The Blessing is the creative power of God to meet any need in the realm of human endeavor. If it is a human need the Blessing can fix it.

When Jacob was afraid of meeting Esau God changed his name and Blessed him because the Blessing of the Lord prevents misfortune.

Also, I want you to know based on our opening scripture that it matters what your name is because a name can be a Blessing or a curse.

Just as in the case of Jacob and Sarah, your name can hinder you from being Blessed. For the Blessing to rest, God had to change their names; Sarai was changed to Sarah and Jacob was changed to Israel in Genesis 32:26-29, “And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.”

Jacob’s problem changed that day. As Jacob he was afraid because Esau could have killed him, but as Israel, he prevailed over men. Praise God.

Confession.
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I am Blessed in the city. I am Blessed in the field; in my business and in all I lay my hands to do. The fruit of my body is Blessed. My finances are Blessed, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Doing the Word.
Consider the meaning of your name, if it is not a Blessing, you can ask God to give you a new name.
