You Must Be Saved.
“There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.” Acts 10:1-6
Living right does not mean you are saved. The Roman Centurion described to us in our opening scripture was living right and devout, but that did not mean that he was saved.
In Peter’s own testimony in Acts 11:13-14, he reveals to us the exact words the angel said to Cornelius, “And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.”
This meant that the man and his house were not saved even though they were devout, they still needed to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ so that they could believe in Him to be saved.
Just like the Roman Centurion above, there are people who do not smoke, neither do they fornicate, but that doesn’t mean they are saved if they have not received the gospel of Jesus Christ. You must receive the gospel of Jesus Christ to be saved.
The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
If you are not sure you are born again please pray this Prayer of Salvation:
O God, I come to you today. I know I am a sinner and have committed sins. But I believe in my heart that you died for me. You were buried for me, and you were raised from the dead on the third day for my justification. I take you as my Lord and personal Saviour. I declare that I am saved. I am born again from this day forward in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
